Total Dissolved Solids in Water
A total dissolved solid (TDS) is a measurement of both the combined total of inorganic and organic substances in a liquid. Other than the pure H20 molecules, this includes anything present in water. If there is a high level of TDS in your water, this is an indication of hard water. Hard water can cause a build-up of scale in your pipes and appliances.
Water in the range of 80 to 100 mg/L is not too hard and had the ideal amount of dissolved minerals. If the TDS measures below 17 mg/L, that water is considered "soft" which has a lower PH and higher acidity.
